AICO adds Ploy, revamps team

SANTA FE SPRINGS , Calif. — Martin Ploy has joined AICO as vice president of sales and marketing, part of a reorganization of top management at the case goods importer.
Ploy takes over from Larry Rinaldi, who has stepped up to the post of president.
Former AICO President Michael Amini now is chairman and chief executive officer.
Amini said the company's sales have increased 110% in the past three years, and that the new executive structure will help manage continued growth.
"This is just the initial phase as AICO reveals additional major changes. Larry's and Martin's successes will be pivotal to our ambitious growth program," Amini said.
Ploy comes to AICO from retailer-manufacturer Krause's, where as president he handled the closing and liquidation of 19 of its 29 stores. The company said last month it will close its remaining stores as well.
Before joining Krause's last November, Ploy was senior vice president of sales at upholstery manufacturer BenchCraft.
Rinaldi joined AICO as vice president of sales and marketing in January 2000. Previously, he held the same title at case goods manufacturer and importer Arbek, where he worked for 10 years.
AICO, an acronym for Amini Innovation Corp., started in 1988 as an importer of occasional tables and has grown into a full-line case goods supplier sourcing throughout Asia.
