CHICAGO — Five students from the Harrington Institute of Interior Design won top honors in a Thomas O'Brien rendering contest, sponsored by retailer Marshall Field's and the Harrington Institute.
Students competed in designing rooms around the Thompson Side Chair from Hickory Chair's Thomas O'Brien collection.
Craig Schiller won the top prize of a $1,000 scholarship, followed by Margarita Jacobs with a $500 scholarship in second, and Eun Hee Kim with a $50 gift certificate in third. Maki Yamaguchi and Veronica Riley won honorable mentions.
Entries were judged on the basis of presentation, creativity, fabric selection, harmony, placement of chair and how well the chair worked with the overall interior design or the intent of the competition.
The chair and the winning renderings are on display in the window of Marshall Field's State Street store here.
