By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, June 24, 2002

The Human Resources/Safety Division of the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. is offering basic and advanced courses explaining federal worker safety standards pertaining to furniture.

The courses, offered in cooperation with CTJ Associates of Chapel Hill, N.C., will be held concurrently July 31 and Aug. 1 at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro, N.C.

The basic safety course is for individuals new to the furniture industry or who have not taken one of AFMA's previous safety courses. Content is targeted to line managers and supervisors, human resources managers, nurses, superintendents, engineers and safety managers.

The advanced course is for those responsible for safety and health programs and those who have taken the basic course. This year's course addresses ergonomics, respiratory protection and measuring safety performance.

Each course costs $199 per person. For information or to register, call Gail Stricklin at AFMA, (336) 884-5000, ext. 137.
