Tour de Furniture raises $25,000 for Red Cross

HIGH POINT —
Several industry companies helped raise $25,000 for the High Point-Thomasville chapter of the American Red Cross by sponsoring the fourth annual Tour de Furniture bicycle ride earlier this month.
There were 171 riders, up from 162 last year, and 80 businesses contributed to the event, including Sealy, Furnitureland South, Thomasville, Davis Furniture, International Home Furnishings Center, Marsh Furniture, Carolina Container, Haefele, Murrows Transfer and Wayne Trademark Printing and Packaging.
Door prizes included an end table donated by Thomasville, a queen-size Posturepedic bedding set donated by Sealy and a $500 spending spree gift certificate donated by Furnitureland South.

More than 90 Red Cross, Special Olympics and community volunteers and 80 companies helped with rest stops and water stops, foot massages and other services during the annual fund-raiser.

Alone or in tandem, 171 riders participated in the event. Individuals, family groups or teams chose from three routes of 10 miles, 25 miles or 50 miles.
