Larry Peabody, designer
RINDGE, N.H. — Larry Peabody, an award-winning furniture and interior designer for half a century, has died. He was 78.
Peabody began his career with Selig, and launched his own design firm in 1955. His work embraced all facets of home furnishings design and included one of the first total home coordinated collections, Many Moods, for Sears in the late 1960s.
He began a long affiliation with Child Craft in the early '60s, bringing fresh ideas to children's furniture. Among his other clients were Richardson Bros., Casa Bique, Chapman Lamps, O'Asian, Kohler, Regal Rugs and Boyd Lighting.
Peabody was long involved with Mark Phillips of The Phillips Collection and was planning to introduce wall hangings made of pillows, rugs and works of art from Bosnia.
Survivors include a daughter, a son, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister.

M.H. 'Bud' Shelton, sales rep
URBANNA, Va. — M.H. "Bud" Shelton, a semiretired sales representative for several furniture companies in mid-Atlantic states, has died. He was 73.
Shelton was a pharmacist before he retired, then began a second career in the furniture industry. He represented companies including Bassett's former National/Mount Airy division, O'Asian Designs, Gordon Tables, C.R. Laine and Hunt Country, working in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
He and his wife, Anita, were reps for Weiman, a division of Bassett. She continues to represent the company.
Other survivors include five children, five grandchildren and two brothers.
