Selig Drezner, partner, DL&S Inds.

HIGH POINT — Selig Drezner, an industry veteran and partner in upholstery producer DL&S Inds., has died. He was 85.

A native of Chicago, a former attorney and a veteran of World War II, Drezner got his start in home furnishings as president of Delwood Products, a maker of legs for the furniture and electronics industries.

In 1969, he moved to High Point with his brother Lee Drezner and started making recliners. The business eventually morphed into Chairs Ltd., expanding into swivel rockers, chaises and other upholstered goods, primarily for furniture retailers and mail-order operations.

The Drezners retired briefly in 1985 but returned to business months later as co-owners of DL&S, making contemporary and transitional upholstery in High Point.

He is survived by his brother, two nephews and a niece.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn. or the charity of one's choice.
