St. Louis-area Serta mattress plant closing
Production to shift to other factories
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, December 5, 2008
ST. LOUIS — Bedding major Serta International has halted production at its factory here and says will close the facility by the end of January. The closing will eliminate about 95 jobs, said Kelly Rampson, Serta's director of marketing.
Rampson said production from the shuttered plant will be absorbed by several other Serta factories.
National Bedding Co., which owns Serta International and controls the Serta brand, acquired the 90,000-square-foot plant in 2006 as part of its purchase of Serta licensee Royal Bedding Co.
