Scott Young leaves Bradington-Young
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 21, 2008
CHERRYVILLE, N.C. — Scott Young, a senior vice president of merchandising and product development for upscale leather seating specialist Bradington-Young, has resigned to pursue other interests, parent company Hooker Furniture announced last week.
Young — the son of Charles Young Jr., who launched the company in 1977 — worked for the manufacturer while in his teens and returned as president in 1995 after working at Hancock & Moore, Masco and Drexel Heritage.
He was president and CEO until January, when he stepped down to become senior vice president of merchandising and product development.
In a statement, the company said that Young was instrumental in the sale of Bradington-Young to Hooker in 2002.
“Along with his father, Charlie, Scott merchandised the product line and grew sales and production to an industry leading position in the higher end leather upholstery market,” said Alan Cole, president and CEO of Hooker's upholstery division, which also includes chair specialist Sam Moore. “More recently, he merchandised the Seven Seas imported leather products that have been important to Bradington-Young's growth.”
The company has not named a replacement for Young.
