Furniture sources to show at CES in Vegas this week

LAS VEGAS — At least a dozen furniture companies are among the 2,700 exhibitors at the giant Consumer Electronics Show, which opens Jan. 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands Expo Center here.
CES, which annually draws 125,000 to 150,000 people, spotlights the latest high-tech gadgets from the consumer electronics world, but ancillary categories such as furniture also make up an important part of the event.
“With the economy the way it is, we have to do as much as we can to develop new business,” said Albert Lin, vice president of home entertainment and home office source Signature Home Furnishings.
Lin, whose company is showing at CES for the first time, is hoping to make contact with consumer electronics stores as well as furniture stores that also sell electronics.
Signature is one of a handful of CES exhibitors that also have showrooms at the High Point and Las Vegas markets.
Others in that category include APA Marketing, which sells entertainment furniture under the Encore brand; Twin Star, which offers entertainment consoles with electric fireplace inserts; LumiSource, a marketer of chairs for video game enthusiasts; and Acme Furniture, a full-line importer.
Other key furniture exhibitors at CES primarily sell to consumer electronics stores. These include entertainment furniture and home theater resources Salamander Designs and Bell-O International and ready-to-assemble furniture resource Mart Tiller.
In addition, the exhibit halls include at least three other suppliers of video game chairs — Ace Bayou, Playseats and Pyramat — as well as several marketers of robotic massage chairs.
Also, at least two home entertainment and home office furniture resources, Office Star and Kathy Ireland Home by Martin, will have their World Market Center Las Vegas showrooms open during CES.
