MARGATE, N.J. — Sherrylee (Brody) Petril, a longtime designer and executive at her family business, Vineland, N.J.-based retailer Brody's Furniture, has died after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was 62.
After attending the Rhode Island School of Design and teaching at a school, she joined Brody's in 1969 as an interior designer and staff manager. She later became vice president of the company and ran it with her parents, Lois and Sidney Brody.
She was a past president of the New Jersey Chapter of the Interior Design Society and was a board member of the Tri-State Home Furnishings Assn. and the IDS.
“When she walked into a showroom with her mother they would light up the room,” said Sidney Brody. The late Lois Brody also was a designer and was active in the IDS.
Survivors of Sherrylee Petril include her husband, three children and two grandchildren; her father, Sidney, retired founder of Brody's Furniture, and his wife; one brother, Melvin S. Brody, president of Brody's Furniture; an aunt and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Assn., 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, Pa. 19002.
