Kenneth W. Leister, founder, Leisters Furniture

HANOVER, Pa — HANOVER, Pa. — Kenneth W. Leister, who founded solid-wood furniture manufacturer Leisters Furniture here in 1946 and was its CEO until his retirement in 2003, has died. He was 87.
In addition to operating the company, Leister was active in his community. In 1980, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the YMCA, and in 2007 was honored for outstanding service to the Hanover Area YMCA. He also served in the local Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce and the Boy Scouts, as well as his church.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, a son, eight grandchildren and three brothers. His son, Thomas Leister, is president of Leisters Furniture.
