The consensus: another down year for furniture stores, with sales slipping another 6.1% before making a modest gain in 2010. Overall consumer spending for furniture in bedding through all retail channels is projected to fare somewhat better, dipping only 2.0% in '09, on the heels of an estimated 9.3% decline in 2008. Furniture Today's exclusive 2009 Bedding Forecast provides bedding unit predictions for 2009 and the predicted dollar value of bedding shipments for 2009. Forecast figures were compiled with input from nearly 20 bedding producers, including most of the Top 15 bedding producers. Bedding producers submitted their unit and dollar projections for the new year and Furniture Today weighted the figures based on the market share of the leading respondents
