Furniture retailer pleads not guilty in tax case

BOSTON - The owner of Sid's Furniture Outlet in Hyannis, Mass., has pleaded not guilty to charges that he failed to pay $245,000 in Massachusetts sales taxes, according to the Cape Cod Times.A judge set a trial date of July 6 for retailer Abbott Davidson. He is accused of collecting tax on sales made between June 2006 and October 2008 but not turning the money over to the state Department of Revenue.
