Mattress Giant taps Murillo to be VP of merchandising
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 18, 2009
ADDISON — Mattress Giant has hired industry veteran Armando Murillo as vice president of merchandising.
He replaces Errol Lebowitz, who retired in November, the company said.
Murillo is responsible for identifying new merchandising initiatives and enhancing the Top 100 company's existing initiatives, including its Web site and its in-store and online product offerings.
Murillo has worked in the industry for more than 13 years, most recently as vice president of sales, Southern U.S. and Latin America, for Palliser. He also has held sales management positions with companies including Sealy and Serta.
He developed the mattress store division for Canadian retailer The Brick and also built a successful Hispanic sales expansion program at U.S. retailer Sit 'n Sleep.
“With such a wide array of experience and strong reputation for success, I'm confident he will help us further grow our business, despite the economic challenges the industry is facing,” said Barrie Brown, CEO of the 360-store Mattress Giant.
