China's Youcheng gets 35.58% import duty rate
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 18, 2009
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Commerce has assigned separate import duty rate status to Chinese wood bedroom producer Macau Youcheng Trading, otherwise known as Zhongshan Youcheng Wooden Arts & Crafts Co. Ltd.
The company received a rate of 35.58% on goods shipped between June 24, 2004 and Dec. 31, 2005. The rate remains in effect until further notice.
The company originally received an all-China duty rate of 198% on bedroom furniture it shipped to the United States. The duty was assigned after the U.S. government's 2004 antidumping investigation into Chinese producers selling wood bedroom sets into the U.S. market at below normal market values.
Importers of the company's product will now pay the lower rate.
