Star International Furniture expands Virginia warehouse
Looks to grow East Coast business

RICHMOND, Va. — California-based case goods importer Star International Furniture is looking to grow its East Coast business through an expansion of its warehouse here.
The company said it decided to occupy an additional 18,000 square feet of a warehouse building it has leased in Richmond for the past seven years. The expansion brings the facility to 63,000 square feet, about the size of its 65,000 square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
Matt Genova, special projects manager for Star International, said the Eastern half of the country represents roughly half of the company's sales, up from about 25% a decade ago.
"Our team has made great strides in promoting our products and brand on the East Coast," Star owner and President Anders Johnson said in a statement. "This investment not only exemplifies our dedication to the success of those who have invested in us, but also makes a statement about our resolve as we look forward towards a brighter future. With our 125,000 square feet of storage and 500 products in all major categories available on both coasts, dealers can now count on us more than ever."
The warehouse expansion is also expected to support the company's gallery program launched last October. The program offers a way for dealers to showcase Star's contemporary bedroom, dining room, occasional and home office furniture.
