Philip Dobbs resigning as Sealy VP
Has led marketing, merchandising
David Perry -- Furniture Today, January 26, 2009
ARCHDALE, N.C. — Philip Dobbs, Sealy's senior vice president of marketing and merchandising, has resigned to pursue opportunities outside the bedding industry, the company said.
Sealy CEO Larry Rogers said that Dobbs' last day at Sealy will be Jan. 30. He noted that Dobbs, who joined Sealy in early 2005, has made "a number of solid contributions to Sealy's efforts to maintain and grow our leadership position in the market."
Rogers said that Dobbs played a key role in "sharpening the brand positioning of Sealy Posturepedic and using the updated brand positioning to help guide key marketing and product efforts."
He also said that during the past three years Sealy has established a significant specialty bedding business with strong entries in the latex and visco categories, and said that Dobbs, and other members of the marketing team, played a key role in those efforts.
Rogers said company officials are taking stock of their marketing needs as they consider how to move forward in that area.
"We are assessing our needs and the skill sets that will continue to take us on the path we have begun with Posturepedic, Stearns & Foster and our specialty sleep program," he said.
