NASHUA, N.H. — Bernie & Phyl's Furniture
has broken ground on a three-floor, 86,000-square-foot superstore on the Daniel Webster Highway here. The project consists of two phases. Phase one, expected to be completed this fall, includes demolition of half the current 41,000-square-foot store and construction of 40,000 square feet of retail space on three floors. The store will continue to operate in 20,000 square feet of space.
Phase two, set to be finished by summer 2003, includes demolition of the remaining old store and construction of an additional 46,000 square feet of retail space.
The Nashua store will be the largest in the Top 100 store's chain.
