McIlquham succeeds Jones at Sealy
By David Perry -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002
TRINITY, N.C. — Sealy has named veteran executive Dave McIlquham chief executive officer, succeeding Ron Jones, who will remain chairman of the board.
McIlquham, 47, a 12-year Sealy veteran, has been president and chief operating officer since February 2001.
Jones, who has been CEO for six years, said, "I turn over the responsibilities as chief executive officer with not only confidence in the future of Sealy but also with a great deal of pride and appreciation for the efforts of all Sealy employees in the accomplishments of the last six years."
As chairman, Jones, 59, will work with management on industry and trade issues. He also said he looks forward to devoting more time to community and charitable causes.
"Over the past year, we have been successful in capitalizing on our leadership position and increasing our market share significantly at a time when industry shipments were declining," McIlquham said. "We introduced the most extensive and exciting assortment of new products in our history, and increased our presence in domestic and international markets. In my new role, I look forward to working with our talented management team and associates to build on our existing customer relationships and company strengths to help move Sealy forward to achieve our growth, sales and profit goals."
