Rent-Way winner dines with soap star

ERIE, Pa. — A Philadelphia woman has won Rent-Way's national "Win Dinner with a Soap Star" Sweepstakes.
The rent-to-own company treated Barbara Smith to an expenses-paid, three-day trip to New York, where she dined with J. Eddie Peck, who plays Dr. Jake Martin on ABC's "All My Children."
Rent-Way said the 2001 sweepstakes generated more than 13,000 entries. Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly were involved in the event, and said it attracted almost double the number of entries of any other sweepstakes the two publications helped conduct in 2001.
"This promotion provided an excellent opportunity for Rent-Way to continue building name recognition as a leader in the rent-to-own industry," said Roger Zwingler, vice president for marketing and advertising for the company, which has 1,073 stores in 42 states.
Rent-Way also planned to give Smith an RCA 52-inch projection television, presented to her by Regional Manager Roger Reynolds and Store Manager Mario "Eddie" Pagan.
