NAPM is now ISM
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002
TEMPE, Ariz. — The National Assn. of Purchasing Management has changed its name to the Institute for Supply Management.
The trade group said the word "purchasing" no longer describes what its members do, and supply management is the term most often used for people responsible for the supply of goods and services a business needs.
"This is far more than just a name change," said Paul Novak, ISM's chief executive officer. "The change represents our recognition that our members are doing more and more non-traditional activities that play an increasing role in implementing the strategic success of their companies and organizations."
