Concord Home, Cyrus Clark merged
By Carole Sloan -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002
NEW YORK — Clark Holdings LLC has been formed by Concord Fabrics and Cyrus Clark Co., a move that merges the home furnishings division of Concord Home with Cyrus Clark.
The holding company is owned by Bill Zales, who will serve as chief executive officer; Cyrus "Rus" Clark III, the third generation of the fabric family; and Concord Fabrics, also a third-generation company that specializes in apparel fabrics.
The offices of the combined companies, which have estimated annual sales of about $10 million, will be at the Cyrus Clark offices at 267 Fifth Avenue here. The Concord Home line will be transferred to Cyrus Clark and will be sold under the Cyrus Clark name, Zales said.
He said product will target the upper end of the converter market and will be marketed to wholesalers, fabric retailers and manufacturers of bedding, pillows, table lines and furniture. The new company will continue to offer the kinds of designs both businesses have been producing, Zales said.
Egle Richter will be vice president of design for the combined companies. The Cyrus Clark sales force will sell both lines.
Roger Burnim, vice president of Concord Home, is no longer with the company, said Martin Wolfson, chief financial officer of Concord Fabrics. Some employees of Concord Home may be offered employment in other Concord Fabrics segments, he said.
