Waverly goes for the roses
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002
NEW YORK — Waverly is launching an extensive decorative fabrics collection called American Rose Garden, playing on the growing popularity of the rose motif.
The 10 print and eight woven patterns, all to be offered as upholstery covers, look back to a more romantic era, but use more cotton warp sateen and less cotton duck as print base cloths, said Pamela Maffei-Toolan, design director for Waverly Lifestyle.
Four statement prints, inspired by documents, are the centerpieces of the collection. They are a loose lattice, a wrought-iron scroll, a rose toile and a lattice/ribbon combination.
The wovens include a wavy stripe, a two-ply cotton jacquard and a matte grosgrain ribbon design, all elaborate, opulent looks.
