Pier 1 names APL top carrier

OAKLAND, Calif. — Pier 1 Imports has named global transportation company APL as its Carrier of the Year.

"APL's commitment of service to Pier 1 insures that our vendors have the right equipment, in the best condition and positioned when needed to move cargo to our six regional distribution centers across the United States," said David Walker, Pier 1's senior vice president, logistics and allocations.

This is the third consecutive year Pier 1 has conferred the honor on APL. In the past year, APL has won similar recognition from Sears, Philips Electronics and the Journal of Commerce.
