COSTA MESA, Calif. — General Inds. has been named exclusive U.S. distributor for Carmel Carpets & Rugs, an Israeli-based manufacturer.
The high-definition, machine-woven rugs are available in either polypropylene or wool. The initial five collections cover a broad spectrum of designs with retail prices ranging from $69 to $699, General said.
"The rugs are available now for immediate shipment throughout the United States," said Itzak Shabtai, president of General.. "We intend to grow swiftly. We are building a new marketing and sales structure that will address the needs of several retail channels."
In recent years, General Inds. has become known for its juvenile rugs, which are sold under the Fun Rug name in printed, hooked and hand-tufted constructions.
"The Carmel rugs will be sold under the General Inds. name and will be aimed at the adult market," said Shabtai.
