Vaughan-Bassett rep will rock 'n' roll for 9/11 fundraiser

Coral Springs, Fla. — Bob Berliner, Florida rep for case goods manufacturer Vaughan-Bassett, will rock the house at Comic Relief, a fund-raising event for widows and children of New York firefighters killed in the Sept. 11 attacks.

Berliner's rock 'n' roll group, ContraBand, will be the house band at the April 6 benefit at the Coral Springs Center of Performing Arts.

Actor William Baldwin will host the event and performers will include several "Saturday Night Live" alumni and other nationally known comedians.

Berliner is lead singer for ContraBand, which plays classic rock 'n' roll. Other members include two doctors, a lawyer, a textile sales rep and an appliance technician.

"The music is our common bond as it serves as an outlet for our hectic daily routines," Berliner said.

"While playing at a local sports bar recently, we were approached by people representing this very worthwhile charity and were asked to donate our time and play as the house band for this big 9/11 benefit," he said.
