Feinblum to help market House2Home store leases
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 7, 2002
BETHPAGE, N.Y. — Julius M. Feinblum Real Estate has been hired as a consultant to help market former HomeBase and House2Home stores to the furniture industry following House2Home's Chapter 11 bankruptcy late last year and its subsequent liquidation.
Feinblum was hired by Cleveland-based Creative Realty, a consultant to T.J. Maxx and BJ's Wholesale Club, which own the leases, said company President Julius Feinblum.
His firm will start by selling 22 properties in Phoenix, Portland and the state of Washington, and northern and Southern California. The number of leases available is likely to grow to more than 30 soon, Feinblum said.
The stores average 100,000 square feet, and Feinblum estimated that 20% to 40% will end up in the furniture industry's hands.
"This represents a great opportunity for regional players," he said, adding the leases are priced right and the property holders are willing to divide and sublease the buildings or "do whatever it takes."
House2Home was a fledgling West Coast home decorating chain that grew out of an effort by home improvement company HomeBase to convert to a retailer focused on outdoor and indoor living, home décor and accessories and seasonal goods.
