Hellenic Rug creates India arm
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 7, 2002
NEW YORK — Hellenic Rug Imports India has been formed as a partnership between Hellenic Rug Imports and Hellenic Rug Imports Canada.
The new company, managed by Anirudh Gupta and based in New Delhi, India, is part of a major expansion effort by Hellenic. It will warehouse all goods made either by contract vendors or in company-owned facilities in India.
Steve Mazarakis is president of the U.S. importing company and Ankush Gupta heads the Canadian company. Hellenic is focusing on products made in Greece and India, Mazarakis said.
"The company will stop marketing machine-made rugs out of Belgium, Egypt and Brazil," he said. "Hellenic will continue to maintain good relationships with our suppliers in these countries, but will only sell product lots from samples at direct manufacturer prices. This will enable the retail buyer to enjoy lower costs and higher margins and still give consumers true value."
