LENOIR, N.C. — Top executives at industry supplier Southeastern Adhesives Co. here have acquired the company from five manufacturers who shared ownership.
Don Barrier, Southeastern's president, and John R. Kirby, executive vice president, worked with Branch Bank & Trust and Stump & Co. to acquire the company for an undisclosed price.
Manufacturers Bernhardt, Bassett, Drexel Heritage, Thomasville and NuWoods had owned shares in Southeastern Adhesives, or SEACO. The company, established in Lenoir in 1963, makes industrial adhesives and supplies furniture and woodworking companies throughout North America.
"We are all very pleased SEACO will continue under the leadership and direction of Don Barrier and John Kirby," said Alex Bernhardt Sr., chief executive officer of Bernhardt Furniture. "Their acquisition of the company confirms their commitment to their employees, as well as Lenoir and Caldwell County, and we look forward to continuing our business relationship with them."
