MANCHESTER, Conn. — Bob's Discount Furniture has promoted Lee Goodman to chief operating officer from operations manager, the position he had held since 1996.
Goodman, who started with Bob's in 1994 as a sales consultant in a new store, has been instrumental in helping the growing retailer meet the challenges of its rapidly expanding delivery, inventory and customer service operations.
Bob's adopted a GERS retail technology system in 1995, and Goodman spearheaded training and development during the conversion. He also has led the introduction of adjunct technologies to better analyze and streamline processes.
Goodman was named in January as one of the industry's "Top 40 Under 40" by a National Home Furnishings Assn. publication.
Before his promotion, the chief operating officer title was held by Joe Goodman, Lee's father, a co-owner of the company, who continues to oversee finance and human resources.
