Serta opens larger, modern Toronto plant
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 10, 2002
TORONTO — Serta Toronto has begun full production at its new plant in Concord, just north of Toronto, which at 106,000 square feet is twice as large as the old facility two miles away.
The plant includes the latest conveyor technology, additional space for storage and processing of raw materials, and an expanded shipping department.
"With a double-digit sales increase in five of the last six years, Serta Toronto has rapidly outgrown its old facility," said Kyle Boyle, president of Sleepmaster, the parent of Serta Toronto.
"The new plant will accommodate the growth rate of the company and promote greater efficiency and future expansion," he said.
Paul Brenman, vice president of operations for Serta Toronto, said the improved technology and plant design make it easier to provide timely shipping and delivery to dealers. The company's territory includes nearly 90% of Ontario.
