Expressions promotes Shuford to president
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 24, 2002
NEW ORLEANS — Alex Shuford III has been named president of CV Inds.' franchised retail chain, Expressions Custom Furniture.
Shuford had been vice president for franchise development. He now replaces Bob Arnold, who will continue as president of CVI's Heirloom division while also consulting with Expressions.
Shuford, scion of the family that controls CVI and its Century Furniture division, will be based in Hickory, N.C., but will work with the New Orleans-based Expressions management team that was installed last year.
A pioneer in the vertically integrated custom-upholstery niche, Expressions is looking to regain some of the magic that distinguished its products and its stores in the 1980s through the mid-1990s. The chain now has 28 stores.
In addition, Evan Bledsoe was named comptroller at Expressions. Bledsoe has an MBA from Vanderbilt University and experience in strategic planning and corporate finance at Federal Express and MS Trucking.
