Thiman new Palliser design guru

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Palliser Furniture has named Marie Thiman to the new post of corporate product development and design manager. She will lead the manufacturer's product design team.

A Swedish-born designer with degrees in architecture and interior design, Thiman had been an Ikea Sweden product developer.

The design team, assembled in June, includes three designers who were working in Palliser's case goods and upholstery divisions. A junior designer will join soon, and Thiman will add designers from Italy, Denmark, Britain, Germany, Norway, Canada and the United States.

"Because these people are from around the world, they will design products that are truly global in appeal," Thiman said. "Retailers will begin to see the results at the October market."
