Barr tapped as HTL president

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 28, 2002

Stephen Barr has been named president of HTL Furniture, a subsidiary of Singapore-based leather tanner and upholstery manufacturer HTL International.

Barr, a 20-year industry veteran, most recently was vice president of leather upholstery for Ashley's Millennium division. He began his career at retailer-manufacturer Krause's Sofa Factory, ran his own leather care business, and later was a regional sales manager for Lackawanna Leather.

At HTL, Barr is responsible for sales, marketing and administration in the United States. The president's post is a newly created position.

Barr reports to Y.T. Phua, HTL's group managing director/chief executive officer. West Coast-based Michael Ling remains with HTL in a sales capacity. Cindy Herman continues to manage tannery sales and is based in Hickory, N.C.
