Latex Foam, Louisville Bedding forge alliance

SHELTON, Conn. — Latex Foam Products, a producer of latex foam pillows, has formed a strategic alliance with Louisville Bedding, a producer and distributor of pillows and mattress pads.
Latex Foam also produces latex used by mattress makers. It is North America's only producer of latex foam pillows and mattresses.
The company said it will collaborate on "research, marketing and product development" with Louisville Bedding. It said the alliance will enable the companies to provide superior service to retailers, increase consumer awareness and demand for latex foam pillows produced by the Talalay process, and develop an improved category of latex foam pillow and mattress pad products.
The alliance comes as both companies are taking new approaches to growing in the latex pillow business.
"The fire that destroyed our production facility last May actually translated into a 'clean slate' opportunity," said Stephen Russo, president and chief executive officer of LFP. "Once we made plans to rebuild our state-of-the-art facility, we still had to rethink the way we marketed and distributed our pillow products. We were able to discover different distribution channels for our world-class product, and found Louisville Bedding to be the best match."
Latex Foam Products is officially dedicating its rebuilt facility here with an industry celebration in May.
