Lectra offers custom fabric cutting system
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 24, 2002
PARIS — PARIS — Global technology provider Lectra has launched a customized cutting system called VectorFurniture designed to increase production, reduce costs and get upholstered furniture to market faster.
VectorFurniture cuts from single-ply to 2.7 inches of compressed materials and is available in three versions: one for just-in-time production for short and medium runs, as well as for plain or matching patterned fabrics; one for large spreads and harder fabrics; and one for high-volume production needs.
Special features include a software control system adapted to the shapes, fabrics and materials of the furniture industry, and a high-performance cutting head. A mosaic option makes it possible to cut striped or patterned fabrics just as easily as plain materials, guaranteeing a perfect match.
The new system also includes options for Internet and intranet communication and for remote maintenance, allowing direct and secure access to experts located at international call centers, and a redesigned user interface that is more ergonomic and intuitive.
Lectra specializes in systems for textiles, leather and other soft goods, using CAD/CAM, virtual reality and Internet technology.
