Directional Furniture completes Carter deal
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 2, 2009
THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Shipping of Carter Furniture products may start as early as next week from plants here owned by Directional Furniture, which finalized an agreement to buy the former Salisbury, N.C.-based company on Jan. 23.
“We couldn't be more excited to have Carter as a member of our family of companies,” said Directional Chairman Rod Lambeth. “Carter helps us broaden our price range while maintaining our focus on quality. They have a loyal client base and a stellar reputation.”
Carter will function independently under the Directional management team. Manufacturing will be done in Directional facilities here. The Carter sales force will continue to represent the line and will report to Directional President Tom Powell.
“We believe this agreement is a win for everyone,” Lambeth said. “There are economies found by having one management team but we are also dedicated to having Carter retain those facets of the company that make it unique.”
Tomlinson/Erwin-Lambeth is the parent company of Directional.
Carter shows at the High Point market in the International Home Furnishings Center, H-538. Tomlinson, Erwin-Lambeth and Directional are shown in a stand-alone showroom at 525 N. Wrenn St., High Point.
