Furniture/Today's French to direct market research

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Dana French has been named director of market research for Furniture/Today and several other Reed Business Information titles, replacing Kay Anderson, who has left the company.
A nine-year veteran at Reed, French has been the market research department's senior research specialist.
She has supported the research needs of a number of RBI titles, including Furniture/Today, Casual Living, Gifts & Decorative Accessories, Home Accents Today, Home Textiles Today, Kids Today and Playthings.
She has had oversight for the industry rankings published by each of those titles and also was the lead research specialist for the publications' various consumer surveys, including proprietary research her department conducted in conjunction with Home and Garden Television.
In her new role, French will oversee the efforts of research specialists Judi Fulbright and Daphne Garland-McLean and database coordinator Cynthia Myers.
French earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., and a master's degree in public administration with a concentration in statistics from the University of Kentucky.

In a related move, business Editor Larry Thomas has joined Furniture/Today's upholstery team and has added leather upholstery, recliners, motion upholstery, gliders and wicker and rattan furniture to his coverage. Previously, those categories were handled by Joan Gunin, who has left the company.
