Schumacher taps Williams as president of Waverly

NEW YORK — Dale Williams will join F. Schumacher & Co. later this month as president of its Waverly Lifestyle Group, succeeding Christiane Michaels, who left in December to become president of White Barn Candle Co., a division of Bath & Body Works.
Waverly licenses a broad range of home furnishings, from specialty bedding textiles to lamps, dinnerware/glassware and paint. Waverly brand furniture is made by Lexington, and rugs and carpeting by Beaulieu.
Williams has been senior vice president of global sourcing and international marketing at Springs Inds. since October, and earlier was president and chief executive officer of HomePortfolio.com, an Internet site for home products. Before that, he was a senior executive at WestPoint Stevens.
He will report to Gerald W. Puschel, president and CEO of Schumacher. Puschel said Williams is "a visionary leader with international experience, bringing a proven record in brand-building and executing strategies."
Williams called Waverly "an unusual franchise in an industry with fewer and fewer opportunities to brand to consumers. It's important to maintain Waverly's status as a cutting-edge fabric brand. The consumer sees Waverly as having a special place in her home."
