Parker House, Welton USA settle patent lawsuit
Welton will stop selling expandable TV consoles
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 9, 2009
ONTARIO, Calif. — Case goods importers Parker House and Welton USA have reached an out-of-court settlement of a lawsuit filed last year in which Parker House accused Welton of infringing on a utility patent for its expandable TV console.
Parker House President Chris Lupo said the settlement requires Welton to discontinue manufacturing and distribution of the expandable TV consoles that infringe on the patent.
Parker House, in turn, has released Welton customers of any liability pertaining to the sales of the products mentioned in the suit, Lupo explained.
There also was a financial settlement for an undisclosed amount of money, he said.
"Our goal is to protect our intellectual property now and in the future," said Lupo. "We respect the intellectual property of others and expect others to respect our intellectual property."
Parker House obtained a patent for its expandable console, which it calls X-pandable, in October 2008.
