Transportation group sets conference for April 1-3

Reducing transportation and logistics costs will be the theme of the 49th annual conference sponsored this spring by the International Furniture Transportation and Logistics Council.

The event, scheduled for April 1-3 at the Lago Mar Resort here, will feature a variety of speakers and panel discussions on topics such as quality control, packaging, intermodal transportation and trucking.

Keynote speaker is Ray Kuntz, CEO of Watkins-Shepard Trucking and the immediate past chairman of the American Trucking Assn.

Other speakers include Dan Baran, vice president of information systems, logistics and operations at Warren, Mich.-based Art Van Furniture; Tom Lowery, manager of packaging and material handling at Ethan Allen; Alan LaPorte, sales manager of logistics provider C.H. Robinson; Frank Quinn, editor of Supply Chain Management magazine; Hank Mullen, president of the Visibility Group; and Dan Bolger, president of the Bolger Group.
