ATLANTA — Longtime Havertys merchandising chief Tony Wilkerson will retire Feb. 15 from his post as executive vice president of merchandising.
At the same time, the Top 100 company will promote Richard Gallagher and Rhonda Wolf to key merchandising positions and John Farris to assistant controller.
“Tony has been a valuable member of the Havertys team for over 32 years,” said Clarence Smith, Havertys president and CEO. “He was instrumental in the development of our private-label Havertys merchandise in 2000 and helped us maneuver the rapid shift in the industry as our manufacturers moved from domestic to foreign production.”
Richard Gallagher, vice president, merchandising since 2005, will be named senior vice president, merchandising. He worked in store operations at Havertys for more than 15 years before he was named director of store operations in 2003 and assistant vice president, stores in 2004. He will report to Smith.
Rhonda Wolf will be vice president, merchandising. She was named assistant vice president, merchandising in 2002 and also director of upholstery in 2006. Wolf had worked in store operations at Havertys for more than 10 years before joining the corporate merchandising team in 1999. She will report to Gallagher.
Farris joined Havertys in 2004 and was a key member of the team that successfully converted Havertys' accounting platforms. He continues to report to Controller Randall Davis.
Wilkerson joined Havertys in 1976 and was in store operations for more than nine years before joining the corporate merchandising team as a case goods and upholstery buyer.
He was named senior vice president, marketing in 1994 and was a director of Havertys from 1999 to May 2003. Promoted to executive vice president, merchandising in 2005, Wilkerson has been responsible for the development and execution of Havertys' merchandising strategies.
“It has been a great privilege to have spent most of my career with a company with such incredible history and respect in its industry,” he said.
