IRWINDALE, Calif. — Importer U.S. Furniture Inc. has named industry veteran Joe Elmore as director of sales, marketing and merchandising, a new position.
Elmore has some 30 years of industry experience, most recently with Chinese manufacturer American Dream Rooms and earlier with furniture sources Master Design, HomElegance, Catalina Furniture and manufacturer, distributor and retailer Alaska World Traders.
U.S. Furniture imports bedroom, dining room, occasional and accent furniture, leather and fabric upholstery and home office from China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. It sells four-piece bedrooms starting around $279 FOB Asia, or roughly $699 retail, and five-piece casual dining sets for as low as $225 FOB Asia, or roughly $599 retail.
Elmore reports to managing director Derek Lin and will help oversee the company's marketing, sales and product development efforts.
Elmore said he was excited about his new role, given U.S. Furniture Inc's extensive product line and its eight years in the marketplace.
“They have the right product, great programs and can provide great container-direct service and back it up with bridge and in-stock programs in the U.S.,” he said, noting that his mission will be similar to his previous roles in the industry.
“It is exactly what I have done in the import business, which is to build product and programs to support that both offshore and onshore,” said Elmore. “It's not just about getting real estate on the retailer's floor. It's about how easy you make it to fulfill and service these programs.”
At the Las Vegas Market, U.S. Furniture shows in WMC C-1696. Elmore will be in the showroom to help promote the new product offerings.
