Lang leaves Mattress Giant
By David Perry -- Furniture Today, March 3, 2002
DALLAS — DALLAS — Phil Lang has resigned as president and chief executive officer of Mattress Giant, one of the nation's largest bedding specialty retailers.
William K. Snyder of Corporate Revitalization Partners, a Dallas-based management consulting firm, will fill the role of interim chief operating officer, the company said.
Mattress Giant gave no reason for Lang's departure, saying only that he "is no longer in the employment of the company." Lang had been involved with the company for about 10 years. Dave Powers, executive vice president, said the other members of the senior management team remain in place.
The company's board will conduct a search for a president and chief executive officer.
Mattress Giant, with 225 stores in Texas, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Massachusetts, had revenues last year of approximately $183 million.
