Stanley promotes Smith, Sitler

STANLEYTOWN , Va. — Case goods major Stanley has promoted two executives to newly created positions in manufacturing and operations, partly to help manage the blend of imported products and components with domestically produced goods.
Bob Smith, formerly vice president of supply management and a 25-year Stanley veteran, has been named senior vice president of operations. He reports to Jeff Scheffer, president and chief operating officer.
Bob Sitler, most recently vice president of manufacturing for North Carolina plants, has been named vice president of manufacturing services. He reports to Smith.
The operations management restructuring comes in the wake of the retirement of John Johnson as senior vice president of manufacturing at the beginning of the year.
"Bob Smith brings a wealth of experience in manufacturing, supply management, purchasing and quality control," Scheffer said. "His leadership will be critical as we place a greater emphasis on the integration of global sourcing to complement our domestic manufacturing capabilities."
Sitler, who has been with Stanley 17 years, will oversee domestic and international sourcing, facilities and product engineering and also chairs Stanley's new Quality Advisory Board.
"Bob Sitler is passionate about whatever he does and will serve us well as we put increased emphasis on global sourcing," Scheffer said.
