Occasional vendors report good traffic, positive response

LAS VEGAS — LAS VEGAS — Occasional sources reported good traffic at last week's market and positive response to pieces that provided a little something extra to sell.
Riverside had success with occasional tied to entertainment walls and with three new table groups with removable casters, said Fred Henjes, senior vice president of sales and marketing.
The company also had a good response to its Tosca table, which has wine storage and can be used as a sofa table, television console or a casual dining server piece. The company was aiming to add function for retailers, Henjes said.
At Jofran, the Campaign group in dark finish with pull-through drawers was a hit, offering a lot of look in a $299 cocktail table. Pricing in the $199 to $299 cocktail range was popular, said CEO Bob Roy.
“I was pleasantly surprised this market. We had record attendance and the attitude of the retailer was positive,” Roy said.
Ultimate Accents reported strong reaction to its Bling collection featuring vinyl covers, glossy black finishes, cut glass and silver accents. The standout item was a $699 black vinyl console with nailhead accents.
“Bling was the thing,” said Ray Steele, vice president of sales.
Steele said traffic was good on opening day but began tapering off as the week progressed, and was down about 20% on Tuesday.
Coast-to-Coast Imports, a new occasional company at the Las Vegas Market, introduced 200 SKUs and said it scored with its Z-shaped accent tables, which came in four colors and a $199 retail price.
“Retailers are looking for exceptional values,” said David MacIntosh, chief administrative officer for the company. “There's going to be business to be had and we have to be better businessmen. We have to work harder on behalf of our dealers.”
