Aspenhome launches fabric uph. program
By Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2009
PHOENIX — PHOENIX — Full-line furniture source Aspenhome launched a fabric upholstery program at last week's Las Vegas Market that takes styles from its best-selling leather collection and offers them at a lower cost.
“This is for customers who want leather but can only afford fabric,” said David Blum, vice president, leather.
The fabric line, which includes motorized motion and three groups from the company's C2 Concepts collection, gives retailers the option of stepping consumers up or down, with the fabric selling at 30% to 35% less than the leather.
New fabric upholstery also includes five sofa groups and the Danielle modular group, which can be configured into everything from a sofa to a full-sized conversation pit group using a minimum of three pieces.
A dozen microfiber fabric choices are offered, ranging from suede looks to textures.
C2 groups shown in Aspenhome's Las Vegas showroom included the tufted pillow-back Redondo Beach, the Santa Barbara with cushioned headrest, and Art Deco-inspired Studio City.
Built-in features include cupholders, pull-out tray tables for eating or for holding a computer, electrical plugs and concealed storage for remotes, magazines or toys. Motorized seating reclines with a wireless remote.
Blum said retail pricing will range from $1,499 to $2,999, compared with $1,999 to $3,999 for similar frames in leather. The modular armless fabric piece in the Danielle collection is about $199. Fabrics on the modular also tie in to those used on dining chairs for a coordinated look.
Blum said containers of upholstery can be shipped direct from the Chinese factory or mixed with other products at the company's consolidation warehouse in south China. Shipping time to the dealer's store from China is six to eight weeks, or about 10 days from the company's Phoenix warehouse.
