DeCoro workers receive lost wages

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2009

SHENZHEN, China— The district government here has paid former DeCoro workers the equivalent of $1.46 million in wages they were owed before the leather upholstery producer suddenly shut down last month, according to newspaper reports here.

The English-language Shenzhen Daily said the payments were made to about 2,000 former DeCoro employees.

Heath Corso, DeCoro's executive vice president and head of its U.S. office in High Point, said the office would remain open through the end of February to fill remaining orders from dealers.

Corso said the last containers of DeCoro merchandise are scheduled to arrive in the U.S. this week.

“We are not planning to file for bankruptcy. Our plan is to liquidate all the company's assets and use those funds to pay our creditors,” Corso said.
