El Dorado opening new store

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2009

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — El Dorado Furniture is gearing up to open a 92,000-square-foot mega-showroom here, anchoring a 17-acre, 153,000-square-foot shopping center at Sawgrass Expressway and Lyons Road.

The new showroom, expected to grand open in March, will be El Dorado's 11th location in South Florida, and will create about 75 jobs, the Top 100 company said.

Like the Miami Gardens, Fla.-based retailer's other stores, the new showroom will be designed like a village with vintage storefronts bordering boulevards, park benches and old-fashioned street lamps. Among the features is a cozy coffee shop, and live entertainment will be scheduled on many weekends.

Much of the furniture assortment will be displayed in lifestyle vignettes that help shoppers visualize what pieces will look like in their homes. Free decorating services will be available to buyers.

An area called “Opportunities” will offer promotionally priced goods and “allow customers to find exceptional values and terrific bargains, yet still be confident about their purchases,” the company said.

The store will incorporated a number of green design elements, including a reflective roof that will block heat and an air conditioning system that recycles cooled air. Landscaping will focus on native plants that require limited water.
