HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT — Upholstery and case goods importer Schnadig International has confirmed plans to move its corporate headquarters and other operations to High Point, according to city officials.
The decision came days after the High Point City Council authorized up to $100,000 in incentives to encourage the move.
The company, which currently has a sales and product development office here, told city officials that 70 jobs would be added over the next four years.
Schnadig will be moving its corporate headquarters in Des Plaines, Ill., and a warehouse in Belmont, Miss., to High Point. The new site also will have some manufacturing.
The decision to move comes a month after Schnadig was acquired by Chinese furniture manufacturer Markor International and named industry veteran Jeff Young as its chairman and CEO.
“While we looked closely at other growing areas of the state, clearly High Point and the Piedmont Triad region are best-in-class,” said Young.
